Job Introduction

This generalist HR role will work closely alongside the ANZ leadership team and shared services teams to manage the day to day HR function, and to provide advice and support on all HR/employee related matters. The role will support and provide advice to all managers and employees across Distribution, Production, BritBox, GNL and Public Service. This role will also be responsible for the day to day management of a HR Coordinator and Recruitment Advisor.

Role Responsibility

Accountabilities:

  • Provide expert input and advice across a range of HR Generalist issues including but not limited to: recruitment, new starters process, Talent, on-boarding, employee relations, probationary periods, implementing changes (e.g. promotions, moves, leavers), parental leave, Hybrid working, entitlement to benefits and leavers.
  • Coach and build the capability of senior managers to anticipate and pre-empt organisational issues.
  • Design and deliver high impact solutions to people issues that meet the needs of the business whilst remaining compliant at all times with Australian employment law.
  • Effectively lead a team of two HR colleagues to support them in providing a first class HR service to the ANZ business.
  • Helping the business turn ideas into reality and effectively coordinating and delivering impactful People programs to drive employee engagement
  • Oversee key HR Operations processes such as monthly payroll and global annual processes such as appraisals, pay review, talent review, bonus and benefits, supported by the HR Coordinator.
  • Localise Global BBC Studios initiatives or programmes for the ANZ office and market ensuring best value for the local business
  • Contribute to, and where accountable, define policies and processes that support the business strategy and objectives aligned to wider BBC Studios policies.
  • Lead on developing ANZ specific D&I and Wellbeing strategy in line with the wider company strategy
  • Support our managers in driving a high performance culture
  • Support the Recruitment Advisor in driving consistency of approach across the BBC in attracting, managing and developing talent to support current and future organisational needs.
  • Support the Recruitment Advisor to drive innovative and inclusive recruitment solutions for the ANZ business in line with local and global strategy
  • Participate in relevant projects, leading and championing as appropriate the BBC’s reputation as a world class organisation and employer of choice.
  • Keep up to date with external trends and best practice in the areas of expertise and HR more broadly.
  • Manage WHS obligations aswell as Workers Compensation and return to work programs
  • Build relationships and form alliances with external counterparts, communities of practice and stakeholders to scan for innovations and opportunities to form partnerships.
  • Be an ambassador for the function and represent the BBC HR function internally and externally (as appropriate).

The Ideal Candidate

Knowledge & Experience

  • Experience influencing & coaching executives / senior managers.
  • Experience of delivering HR process, initiatives and services
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop, maintain and enhance relationships with a variety of contacts; strong influencing and persuading skills
  • Analytical skills and the ability to resolve logistically complex problems
  • Knowledge of employment law and policies, generalist human resources trends, best practice and future directions.
  • Ability to manage cross-functional projects internationally.
  • Management, leadership and team building skills.

 

 

Strategic Planning & Decision Making

  • Supports the HR Business Partner in developing, adapting and executing HR operational strategy to help achieve key business objectives
  • Provides input/contributes to the development of HR strategies for the HR Global Markets team

 

Relationships

  • Daily contact with HR Business Partner, HR Coordinator, Recruitment & Talent Advisor, managers and employees. 
  • Weekly/fortnightly contact with Australia Leadership Team.
  • Weekly/fortnightly communication with the global HR team to maintain strong relationships, sharing best practise and experience.
  • Be an approachable point of contact for external HR contacts.
